O’Hara, the Airport story

Tuesday, July 25th, 2006

You would think that a simple flight to San Diego, with one stop at the United Airlines hub in Chicago, would be straight forward, right? Think again!

The second leg to San Diego requires an airplane, and ours in stuck somewhere in North Carolina. The scheduling board said ‘on time’, then ‘delayed’, then nothing. ARGH!

……

Now it says delayed 1 hour….Now it says delayed ‘untl later’. We have faint visions of arriving in San Diego tonight some time, after about 12 hours.

……

EUREKA! Now it says we will board in 45 minutes since they have another plane to use.

Have to go to board – before they change their mind. After all the miss-leading info we are now about an hour late and should be able to make up part of it in flying time.

At Warner Brother's StudiosWhy California dreaming?

About 18 years ago, while in California to attend the International Juggler’s Association convention in San Jose, I (with another juggler) spent a couple of weeks driving the coastal highway. It was great but I didn’t get as far south to San Diego.

I have long promised my daughter that I would repeat this trip with her, showing her the California coast, adding San Diego, and seeing the California, we have talked about many times. California Dreamin’ just for us.

So here we are, and off we go…

This is the completely prejudicial and biased saga of the Wilson family trip to Southern California, mostly scribed by Ken Wilson, but with side comments from daughter Lynette.
